So, you have set up a business? Are you at the stage of thinking about a logo? Yes? While there are many websites out there that can pre-build you a logo or branding, working with a Graphic Designer one-to-one is an entirely different experience, and produces exponentially better results.
The process I like to take centres on truly understanding what your business is trying to achieve, the company ethos, and your key business messages. What is your target audience? How do you personally feel about the business and where do you see it going in the future?
These questions are so important, because once a brand is built you cannot keep changing it over and over again. Well you can, but I don’t think it is particularly sensible.
Communication and personality are central to my design philosophy. After the initial consultation, I like to dig deeper into the person’s character, understand what drives their business focus, and also the personal styles and trends that they like. Maybe understand who their competitors are and the sort of design work they have come across. How have they portrayed themselves?
Coming up with a name is so much fun, sometimes the first letters of your names works as a starting point, and then the business name? Or even something seemingly unconnected can work from a design and communication perspective. Whatever name you decide on, it has to be well thought-through, and has to have an emotional meaning to you personally.
Then that’s when the fun part begins, designing concept ideas and styles, from something really modern, graphic and simple to something increasingly creative that complements and elevates the business.
